Cover Reveal: Something Inside Me Knows
I am thrilled to share with you the beautiful cover for my next book, Something Inside Me Knows: A Memoir.
The original art is by Dadu Shin, and the cover was designed by Anna Booth.
When I first saw Dadu Shin's art I was immediately drawn to the way he has often used tiny dots to create a larger image, in which the whole is genuinely greater than the sum of its parts. I try to write this way, too: grounded in detail but ultimately telling a story larger than those specific moments. I absolutely love the cover art he has created, and I'm so honored to have his work be one of the first ways that readers encounter my memoir.
The mountains on the cover are the Flatirons of the Rocky Mountains as seen from Boulder, Colorado, where I grew up. The little building and the sign (囍 means double happiness) are an imagined representation of two places that I write about in the memoir. And in a wonderful touch, those Chinese characters along the bottom of the cover are my Chinese name.
