#WeNeedDiverseBooks is going strong!
Yesterday was the official kick-off of the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign, which has been taking social media by storm for several days. If you haven’t heard of it yet, you should go here to get up to speed. #WeNeedDiverseBooks is the brainchild of a group of 20+ authors and bloggers, and while I am not officially involved in it, I am super psyched about the reception they’ve gotten!
Today is the second day of the campaign, and it will involve a Twitter chat at 2 pm EST at the #WeNeedDiverseBooks hashtag, where you’re invited to “share your thoughts on the issues with diversity in literature and why diversity matters to you.”
I haven’t had time to participate much beyond Twitter because I am engaged in a rather massive upheaval in real life — I’m moving! On Monday! So while I’m popping in and out of Twitter in between packing, I haven’t been able to do much more. Bad timing for me, but great timing for diversity in children’s and YA books!
