My week of video stardom

It’s been a big week for me on video! On Wednesday I participated in Little, Brown’s Live at the Lounge video chat series. It was really fun! If you missed the 30-minute video chat, it’s been archived and you can watch it online right here.

But wait, there’s more!

On Election Tuesday, I was randomly on The Today Show in a segment on political memes. For Halloween, my partner Amy and I constructed a giant hot-pink binder, referencing Mitt Romney’s “binders full of women” statement.

Thanks to social media, NBC saw it and stuck a photo of me in that binder on The Today Show. Here’s a screencap:

And here’s the video clip from The Today Show itself:

That costume was fun to make, but it did involve a lot of fumes! Amy used three cans of spray paint, and I lettered the word “WOMAN” and the woman sign with the biggest Sharpie I’ve ever seen. Obviously, the binder’s half-second appearance on The Today Show made it all worth it. :)

Thanks for posting the archived video chat! Loved the answer to why you set Adaptation in 2014.

Also, my partner was just telling me about seeing the election memes story on Facebook and how funny they were, and I was able to say that the the woman in the big pink binder was Malinda Lo! She remembered the binder and thought it was great. Thanks for posting that, too. I still wish they had named you, for the free publicity.

  • @MDoriaRussell That's ok with me. I love The Sparrow as a novel and am fine with it remaining a novel. Then nobody can mess it up. about 1 hour ago in reply to MDoriaRussell
