Links and announcements

Things have been happening! Here are a few of them:

Fall 2010 Fantasy Cover Trends — Today over at the Enchanted Inkpot, I’m blogging about this fall’s crop of fantasy book covers. Some of the trends include big typography, blue-and-white colors, and lots of iconic objects.

Interview at YARN (YA Review Net) — I was recently interviewed over at YARN, where I talked about fairy tales, writing and revision, and gave advice on how to deal with the dreaded writer’s block.

LGBT Lit Days at the Story Siren — From Aug. 9-20, Kristi aka the Story Siren is featuring guest posts and contests all about LGBT literature for young adults. I’ll be one of the guest posters (though I’m not sure when my post will be up), and I’m really looking forward to reading everyone else’s posts, too.

Events!

Updated! Because I already forgot something! — This Friday, Aug. 13, at 5:30 p.m. Pacific, I’ll be participating in A Midsummer Night’s Chat, hosted by Eve’s Fan Garden, with a whole bunch of YA authors. I believe you can following evesfangarden on Twitter to find out more about when/how it will take place.

I (also) have news on a couple of events I’ll be doing this fall. First, a local northern California event:

  • Sonoma County Book Festival — YA Program with Barbara Quick and Kim Culberson
    Sept. 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
    Cafe Azul
    521 4th Street
    Santa Rosa, CA

I’ve also gotten confirmation of my panels at Sirens in Vail, CO, this October:

  • Queerness in Fairy Tales (Roundtable discussion)
    Friday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
    Rocky Mountain Ballroom B
  • The Golden Age of YA (Panel with Sarah Rees Brennan, Rachel Manija Brown, Janni Lee Simner)
    Saturday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.
    Rocky Mountain Ballroom D

So many awesome people will be at Sirens! I can’t wait. For all of my event info, be sure to visit my Events page.

Do you know when the chat for Midsummer Nights chat is going to be?

I can’t wait to see what all the authors have to say.
