Two new interviews about ASH
In the wake of the Morris nomination (still thrilled!), I’ve had the opportunity to do a couple of interviews.
Liz Burns, librarian extraordinaire and proprietor of A Chair, a Fireplace, & a Tea Cozy, interviewed me for the YALSA blog. YALSA will be featuring interviews with all five Morris nominees, leading up to the day the winner is announced on Jan. 18.
In my interview, I talk about the multicultural influences in Ash, the research I did for the book, and my recommendations for “must-read” books for teens. Go here to read the interview.
I was also recently interviewed by Out-FM, a progressive LGBT radio show that airs Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon in New York City on WBAI 99.5 FM. You can download the broadcast version of the interview here, or download an extended version here, including an extra 10 minutes of conversation and a second reading from the book.
Thanks to both Out-FM and YALSA!

Re differences. I got this on a fortune cookie recently:
‘A difference, to be a difference, must make a difference.’
Go figure.
Thanks for linking to these interviews (and congrats on the Morris nomination!). I just got my signed birthday copy of Ash, so am rereading it, savoring it this time (when I read it in October, I just devoured it quickly). It’s even better the second time around.
