This week in ASH news
Several thrilling Ash-related things have been going on recently, so I thought I’d share some of them with you.
- First up, Dana Rudolph’s wonderful column about my book in Bay Windows, New England’s main LGBT newspaper. I love this paper! I read it all the time when I lived in the Boston area.
- I was also interviewed by Steph Su, who asked me about my favorite topic, food, of course.
- Here is the Story Siren’s lovely review of Ash: “I’d hate to see this novel labeled as nothing more than ‘a lesbian retelling of Cinderella’ because it is so very much more than that. Ash is a story that anyone can relate to.”
- And Book Chic not only read his favorite excerpt from Ash on video, he reviewed it and interviewed me.
But perhaps one of Ash‘s most glorious moments so far occurred on Sept. 8 at 4:35 p.m., when I checked Amazon (against everybody’s advice) and discovered that Ash was ranked at No. 98 in the top 100 titles for teens. WOOHOO!! So, for at least one hour (Amazon updates its rankings hourly), Ash was sandwiched between Christopher Paolini’s Brisingr and the Spanish language edition of Twilight (movie tie-in version). Yeah baby!
I took a photo so that the moment would be immortalized, since who knows if it’ll ever happen again:
All in all, an excellent week for Ash. Coming on Monday: video from my book launch in San Francisco on Sept. 10!

Whoa, awesome Amazon news! Especially since I took a look at the current top 100, and it’s rather monotonous and repetitive… very happy for you!
