Hello dear readers! It has come to my attention that several of you are interested in obtaining autographed copies of Ash, which of course I approve of. There are a couple of ways to do it.
First, if you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, please come to my Exciting Official Book Launch this Thursday at the San Francisco LGBT Center, from 6 to 8 p.m. I will be there to sign books!
I am also giving a brief and hopefully inspirational and not boring speech about how I came to write Ash, and reading a little bit from it. There will be libations available, as well as some absolutely delicious cookies made by my friend’s wonderful new cookie company, Hello Kookie. Here is my editor demonstrating how lovely they are (I sent the wonderful folks at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers a special batch just for them):
Mmm Hello Kookie cookies!
Additionally, there will be free things at my Exciting Official Book Launch. I can’t tell you what they are, because that would ruin the surprise. All I can say is: PLEASE COME. Have pity on a slightly neurotic debut author who has nightmares that the room will be empty, and do stop by. I’d love to meet you.
Please note: I will be doing additional appearance in the Bay Area this fall, as well as (drumroll please) a few events on the East Coast in November! Further information will be announced here when I have it confirmed. Possibly very soon.
Now, I can hear some of you saying through the internets: “But Malinda, I do not live in the San Francisco Bay Area, nor do I live on the East Coast, so how am I supposed to get a signed copy of Ash?!”
Never fear. I have spoken to the good people at Book Passage, my local independent bookstore, and they have signed copies available. You may call them (800-999-7909) from wherever you are and order your very own signed copy. Book Passage will then call me and say, “Can you come in and sign some copies of Ash so we can ship them to these fabulous readers?” And I will, of course, do so.
Before I leave you today, I just wanted to point you to another Ash giveaway, this time hosted by the incomparable Sarah Rees Brennan, author of the critically acclaimed (three starred reviews!) The Demon’s Lexicon. The giveaway ends very soon so go right now to read her incredible blog post about Ash (which, in my opinion, focuses exactly the right amount on how awesome Kaisa is).
More soon, including food.

OMG EAST COAST EVENTS?!?!?! *starts hyperventilating* I hope that one of those events is in DC or thereabouts. Because that would be amazing and I would totally be there in a flash.
Good luck with the book launch!!
Can’t wait to hear all about it.
I second that — OMG East Coast Events?! Any chance you’re coming to Connecticut?
I wish I could come to your book launch, but unfortunately, I’m stranded on the East Coast. I’m sure it will be FAR from empty!
I just got my copy of Ash yesterday — I can’t wait to start reading it! I had massive amounts of reading to do for my English class last night and my grandparents came over for dinner, so it’s still sitting there, unread. But I swear, I can hear it calling to me.
It seems like forever ago that I heard you were writing a lesbian Cinderella — I’ve been looking forward to it ever since. I can’t even tell you how happy I was when I walked into Borders and saw it sitting on the shelf right in front of me!
It took a minute to find though — I was looking on the shelf above it, where L was, but it was down in M. So much for the whole “alphabetical by last name” thing, huh? Good thing L and M are so close!
Woops, I guess that didn’t work. I wanted this picture to show up in my post. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y86/AlyYiss/People/Malinda%20Lo/2009–9-7-4.jpg It was supposed to be before the last paragraph. I resized it to fit in the post, but the link is to the bigger version. No point in a tiny pic if it’s not embedded, right?
I third that – East Coast Events YAY!!!! Hope an event is in New Jersey or near it, cuz I would totally go! I bought Ash off Amazon on Sept 7th, so hopefully it’ll be here soon, they said tomorrow so I’m crossing my fingers! I am dieing to read it! I hope you have fun at your book launch!!!
By the way those cookies look so cute, they match the book perfectly!!
Oh, I forgot I saw the UK cover for Ash at Sarah Rees Brennan’s Ash giveaway and it’s so cute! I love both the covers!!! I’m not sure which one I like better because they are both so nice!!!
heh. Thanks foir the info about signed copies. Am I dog with a bone? Why, yes!
I wish I knew people in San Francisco to tell to go the the singing tomorrow night, but I doubt you have to worry about no crowd. A lesbian fairy-tale party? Who wouldn’t want to go?!
Thanks for the link to that blog post. Very entertaining! Hot huntresses indeed. Yum! It didn’t twig when I was reading it, but Ash really has a similar feel to Keturah and Lord Death. Quiet, dark magic. Yup. (people, go read that after you read Ash)
Thanks Malinda!
I just got around to reading Sarah Rees Brennan’s blog entry about Ash . . . and I realized that it’s a very small world. Small YA world anyway. “Team Castle” “Castle Kitten” I followed that whole thing on twitter.
Small, small world. I bet you could play Six Degrees of Team Castle within the YA world.
