Either there's some actual connection between the name Aisling and the Cinderella story, or I also got it from the "Ashling" pronunciation, because even before I read Ash I associated that name with the fairy tale. Funny! I'm always interested in the naming choices people make when retelling Cinderella--some people go for the Cinder half, like you did, and some go for the Ella half, which is also cool, and has a different sort of feel. I love the Irish/Gaelic sort of sounds of Aisling and Sidhean, though.

That website is very cool. The images are both fairy tale-like and a little odd. I love them! Thanks for pointing it out.

Kaisa is Finnish and short for Katharina which means the pure one. (I got that by googleing ^^)

I was fascinated by the name because it seems to fit perfectly. In German the Kaiser (pronounced like Kaisa) was the emperor and the title, just like the Russian Czar, derived from the Latin "Caesar" because Kaiser is the Classic Latin pronunciation of Caesar. Therefore for me it always had the connotation of a proud and royal character.

Fascinating! I admit I did wonder if Kaisa was inspired by Serafina Pekkala's daemon. Kaisa was so awesome, it seemed to fit. I am wont to name characters after my favorite characters in literature, too. I had a Clarissa (from Clarissa) in my first book series, and a Philippa (from Anne of the Island) in this one.

(In passing, the sidhe in the picture are riding unicorns!)
