The return of The Lo-Down

This week I have something special for y’all, especially those of you who used to watch “The Lo-Down.” Check it out:

In case you’d rather read about what I say in the vlog, here’s the info:

From fall 2007 to fall 2008, I had a video blog on AfterEllen.com called “The Lo-Down.” I recruited my friend Sarah Pecora to be on the vlog with me. We started off by “reviewing” (I use the term loosely) the first season of A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila, a disturbing yet hilarious reality dating show on MTV.

After that, we did a series of fake news shows in which I made Sarah dress up as various fake guests. Then, realizing that fake news actually took a lot of work to produce, we did a string of vlogs on various topics — movies, sports, answering viewer questions. Most of those viewer questions revolved around dating — specifically, dating lesbians! (It can be a difficult, dangerous and confusing task.)

Last fall, “The Lo-Down” took a hiatus because, well, I had to write another book, Sarah and her partner had a baby, and I moved about an hour away so it became difficult to shoot the vlogs. However, we have decided that we miss doing them! So we’re about to shoot another seven-episode series of Lo-Down vlogs for AfterEllen.

The subject of these vlogs? Lesbian dating!

While Sarah and I have plenty of opinions of our own on this fine subject, we invite you to submit your questions as well. You can post your questions in the comments section of this blog post or email them to us at thelodown@malindalo.com (in case you wish to maintain your privacy).

We need your questions by July 18, 2009, in order to fit them into the vlogs.

So, send us your questions and we’ll try to answer them! Meanwhile, you can watch old episodes of “The Lo-Down” at AfterEllen.

Oh, and P.S. Sarah Pecora is now on Twitter as @SpecsPerspec!

P.P.S. The sound and video appears to be slightly out of sync here, and the only explanation I have is that I used my Mac’s isight camera and built-in mic, which may not have recorded at a very high quality. Will check on the difference with my actual camera for next vlog.

    Hi Malinda …

I’m SO glad the Lo-Down is returning … I love you guys!

Hmm … questions on dating …

When first dating someone, how do you keep the “raging hormones” in check? It’s so hard to think straight (pardon the expression ) with all that energy flowing. In my younger days I didn’t always keep it in check, but, for me, it’s better to get to know the woman before adding sex to the equation. How’s that for a question?

Can’t wait for the new Lo-Down season! …. Saradove
