Photo Friday: A Dog’s Life

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted photos of 007, so for those of you who aren’t familiar with this illustrious figure, let me give you some background.

007 is our code name for our dog. And yes, we actually call her “007″ when we don’t want her to know we’re talking about her. Sometimes 007 poses for photos, and then she reveals — through a secret process I cannot divulge — her true thoughts.

The other day, 007 sat me down and told me in no uncertain terms that it was long past time that I posted some photos of her on my blog.

“Look,” she said, sticking out her pouty lower lip. “I do so much for you. Not only do I make sure you’re properly moisturized by licking your face, I force you to exercise by going for walks.”

“True,” I replied. “You are invaluable, 007.”

“So it’s about time you gave me my due. My fans are dying to see photos of me.”

“I had no idea!” I said, secretly thinking that she might be getting an inflated head due to the amount of attention (and treats) that Amy gives her.

“You may think your little author blog is for showcasing your, you know, ‘work,’ but face it, Malinda: People would rather see a cute dog than look at your bizarre fake fantasy book covers.”

“Hey!” I objected. “I thought they were cool!”

007 gave me a withering glance. I gave in. “OK, OK! I’ll feature you on my blog this Friday.”

“I’ll need more than one photo,” 007 told me. “You’ve been neglecting me. It’s been almost three months since my last photo.”

“All right, all right,” I said, raising my hands in surrender. “What do you want?”

Tapping her tail thoughtfully, 007 said, “An expose — a revelation about who I am. The triumphs, the tragedies … the mysteries of a dog’s life.”

“As you wish,” I said, and bowed to 007 as if she were my ruler. (Because, honestly, she is.)
