Photo Friday: Things I saw last week

Here are a few things I encountered over the last week.

Lichen in Deer Park. How amazing is that? Shells on bark.

Also in Deer Park, there is a part of the trail that forks off beneath a tree’s low-hanging branches. This picture doesn’t do it justice: It is magical.

Under the branches

For Amy’s birthday, I took her to Picco in Larkspur for dinner. On Mondays they feature produce and meats from local Marin County farms; the menu changes weekly. Here is the delicious chicory salad we had, with Marin Roots Farm heirloom chicory, local crabmeat, shaved carrots, and Meyer lemon creme fraiche dressing.

We also had the bucatini with Jesse’s escarole, county line fava beans, house pancetta, breadcrumbs and Bellweather Farms pepatoe. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture of it until almost the end!

Now I’m hungry. Is it time for lunch yet? Have a great weekend!
